JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO – Chestnut Health Systems™ is pleased to welcome Michelle Cooley, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) as the newest addition to its team, bringing expanded access to in-person behavioral health care for residents of Jefferson County and surrounding areas.
Cooley is the first on-site Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) at Chestnut’s Missouri locations, marking a significant milestone in enhancing patient access to behavioral health services. Previously, clients had access to care through virtual appointments. Now, Cooley will offer in-person services at Chestnut’s offices in Hillsboro (102 4th St.) and De Soto, Missouri (400 Boyd St.).
“Recovery is possible, and it starts with seeking help. I am here and eager to be part of each individual’s journey,” said Cooley. With a master’s degree specializing in psychiatry, Cooley takes a holistic, client-centered approach, empowering individuals to take an active role in their care. Her treatment philosophy focuses on integrating the mind, body and spirit to create personalized plans that meet each client’s unique needs.
Chestnut accepts health insurance from a variety of providers, including private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. Discounted fees and financial assistance are available for individuals who are underinsured or uninsured, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to receiving high-quality behavioral health care.
Services in Jefferson County are partially funded by the Jefferson Foundation and the Jefferson County Community Mental Health Fund Board, reinforcing the community’s commitment to accessible, compassionate care.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michelle to the team,” said Chris Norton, behavioral health clinical director at Chestnut. “Her expertise and compassion are perfectly aligned with our mission to provide accessible, quality mental health care for all.”
