Mental Health Juvenile Justice

An estimated 66 percent of youth involved in the juvenile justice system have symptoms related to a significant mental illness. Chestnut understands the challenges children and families face when an adolescent is involved with the juvenile justice system. Chestnut's Mental Health Juvenile Justice (MHJJ) program addresses mental health issues with the goal of avoiding re-arrest. MHJJ strengthens relationships among families, schools, courts, probation offices, and community partners.

MHJJ serves youth ages 10 to 18 in Madison and St. Clair Counties in Illinois who are involved with the juvenile justice system, are experiencing mental health symptoms and have a medical card.
