Graduated the John Marshall Law School (now the University of Illinois at Chicago), 2017, Governors State University, 2011 (Political and Justice Studies), and Governors State University, 2009 (Criminal Justice)

Specialty areas: research and community outreach in public health with a focus on opioid use disorders and recovery management for vulnerable populations


Since joining Chestnut in 2010, Rachel Kurz has participated in a variety of research projects centered around substance abuse, mental health, and HIV/AIDS and currently serves as the Field Director for the Lighthouse Institute—Chicago (LI-C). Her responsibilities include hiring, training, and overseeing staff engaged in data collection, participant enrollment, and follow-up activities within multi-site evaluation and longitudinal outcome studies. Ms. Kurz also provides training for external partners related to LI’s evaluation and outcome study protocols. Along with leading recruitment efforts both in-field and through collaborative efforts with partner organizations, she is responsible for supervising thousands of participant interviews. In addition to her role at LI-C, Ms. Kurz is a licensed attorney in the state of Illinois.
