Safe Equal Caring Understanding Relationships
Chestnut's Safe Equal Caring Understanding Relationships (SECURE) program helps women who have been or are currently in relationships that are threatening, controlling, or physically abusive make choices to sustain safe, mutually respectful, and violence-free relationships for themselves and their children.
SECURE helps women to identify the warning signs of an unhealthy relationship and common patterns of negative behavior in unhealthy relationships, and understand the effects of unhealthy relationships on children, resources available for those who wish to change their relationship, and healthy communication and conflict resolution skills.

Invitation to Responsibility
For men or women who have committed domestic violence or abuse, Chestnut's Invitation to Responsibility (ITR) program focuses on developing and maintaining relationships that are respectful and violence-free. It is based on the idea that individuals are responsible for the consequences of their choices. ITR maintains that as a person learns to accept responsibility, their quality of life and satisfaction with relationships will improve. The men’s program complies with the Illinois Protocol for Domestic Abuse Batterers Programs and is included in the lists provided by the Illinois Department of Human Services to Illinois courts and to the State’s Attorney’s Appellate Prosecutor’s Office.
