Veronica Powers, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Lead Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Veronica is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Chestnut Health Systems, specializing in mental health and substance use disorders. She is trained in evidence-based practices, including recovery oriented psychiatric care. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Veronica earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and her Master of Nursing Science, Psychiatric and Mental Health at the University of North Dakota. She completed two Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing and Community Health. She approaches treatment with a focus on hope. “The path toward wellness is rarely a straight line. I believe in treating each person as an individual and listening to their concerns and goals towards wellness. I like to work with the person as a part of their team to produce an evidence-based treatment plan.”

Veronica chose this field because she believes that difficult situations happen in life, and she has gained valuable insight from them that could help those in need. She enjoys hearing people’s success stories, having her clients return to care, and express hope.

In her spare time, Veronica likes to go on adventures and travel, but also staying home, lighting a fall candle, and watching a good movie. Her top strengths are adaptability and connectedness.
